Apr. 7th, 2010 04:54 pmI haven't watched the new Who yet, and I'm not sure if I will. I'm still feeling so bruised and battered by everything that happened prior to this that I just don't know if I can set myself up all over again. I came to really hate the Doctor and, yeah, the actors have changed, but Tennant wasn't the problem (in fact, I'm kind of fond of him). So maybe I'll watch, someday. Or maybe I'll just go watch some of the Four serials I got for my dad for Father's Day last year.
Anyway, I've started watching V because they had the good taste and judgment to bring Nicholas Lea on as a cast member. I do so love Vancouver-filmed shows because sometimes they give you things like Surprise!Samantha Ferris, which is awesome.
Am continuously blown away by how awesome Southland is. It gets a lot of comparisons to The Wire, deservedly so. The Wire was a serious deliberation on the death of the American city and Southland is more of a cinema verite look at the lives of its characters. So they cover many of the same issues but where The Wire had A Point to make, Southland just throws open the doors and lets us in. And I love how the first season kind of soft-balled us into watching, it kept us at that nice, television distance so that we wouldn't be afraid of getting too close, but now they're starting to take away the filter, to draw us down into the deep water where the sharks swim. It's incredible and sure to break my heart.
Now if Hulu would just hurry the fuck up and start streaming Justified my tv world will be complete. I kind of really enjoyed the pilot and must have more! Bring me more Federal Marshal Seth Bullock being all hot and gunslinger-y! The most lol-arious part of the pilot was where ( Tiny Spoilers ) So, yes, more modern cowboys, plz.
And now I'm gonna go do that thing where I try to trick myself into being productive. Or something.
