Sep. 3rd, 2010 10:57 amHave had a very long couple of weeks. On the good side YAY I QUIT PANERA!!!! You guys, that was the stupidest job ever for someone with my health issues. I mean, one night I had to take four oxycontin just to deal with the pain. I'm just saying. So YAY IT'S OVER!!!
And right after that I went with the parents down to Richmond, VA to bring the Philosopher back up to finish her last year at U-Michigan. You see, the Wrestler's been stationed down in VA getting some specialized officer training and she'd been staying with him over the summer. But now she has to go back to school, as is always inevitable.
While I wasn't looking forward to another family trip, or another 12+ hour drive to Virginia, I felt I should go so that the Philosopher didn't have to deal with my parents alone on the ride back. So every time the Mum said things like "I think you're addicted to food" or "If you join Weight Watchers I'll get you cello lessons" (WTF, cello lessons? I don't even know) I just kept it all in perspective.
However, there were some fun things about the trip. In bullet point-style:
* We went to the beach. The waves were huge because Hurricane Danielle was somewhere far off the coast.
* Found out the Big Lug had a date with Hermann Gohring's granddaughter. No, seriously. I still can't get over it. Also FYI, Hermann Gohring's granddaughter is Mormon.
* Read and enjoyed The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series. It was a very exciting, if fucked up, book.
* Spent some time on Sunday laying out by the pool listening to podfic.
* I wrote fic in the car. Both the Susan of Narnia fic and the collection of ficlets about female hunters is coming along nicely.
Ummmm, okay, I guess that's it. Eventually we came back home and then I spent the last two days helping the Philosopher move. It wasn't too bad, just time consuming and brain deadening (not in a bad way, per se).
And now I want to go find fic, preferably of the mindless variety. Upwards and onwards!
