Wow, it's kind of amazing how much work takes out of me. It makes me kind of sad that I have less time to spend surfing LJ, but at the same time this new routine is kind of nice. Now I get to spend Saturday morning digging through my f-list, putting all of the stories and recs into one, easy to read document that I get to enjoy during the next work week. It's weird, but having limited time seems to make me appreciate fanfiction more.

So let's sum up the week bullet point-style.

* We at FGC have discovered a new awesome show: Death Valley on MTV. It's a Cops-style half-hour show where vampires, werewolves, and zombies have infiltrated the San Fernando valley and now the police have to hunt them down. It's super-fun with lots of badass monster killing. And the best part of the show is how normal it all is. They're just police officers on the beat, except they also get to kill zombies. \m/

* My brother, the Big Lug, is pretty much engaged to a girl from Australia. They met while she was teaching in Virginia and started dating. It was a dramatic relationship, all ups and downs and crazy (from them both) and now they're planning their wedding and the Big Lug is planning on going to law school in Australia. I'm super-happy for him even though it's sad that he'll be moving so far away.

* My other brother, Lt. Wrestler, is coming home from South Korea on Tuesday. His wife comes into town a few days later and then the Army is moving them down to El Paso, TX. I'm really looking forward to spending some time with him while he's here. I haven't had a good debate in ages and no one is as worthy a foe as my little brother.

* I have the pilot of that new CW show Secret Circle waiting for me on TiVo. I remember having fond feelings for the books so I'm curious to see what the tv show is like. Plus, witches are always doubleplusgood.

Fic coming soon!

Author's Note: Golden Age fic. This is what happens when you combine a book on Renaissance history, a random episode of The Tudors and too much Guy Gavriel Kay at an impressionable age. Book and movie compatible.
Summary: Freedom has its cost.
